The AquaPlutus emblem: Plutus, Greek god of wealth, raising a cornucopia of shrimp.

An introduction

Trust, as infrastructure.

Aquaculture moves hundreds of billions of dollars of product a year on a fragile substrate: personal trust between counterparts who often cannot verify each other. AquaPlutus is the layer that closes that gap.

Seafood, chosen first

AquaPlutus exists to make seafood the first-choice protein — by making it the first protein that fully explains itself: what it is, where it came from, the good, the bad, and the ugly — and all of it checkable. Making trusted aquaculture economically possible at scale is how that gets done.

No major protein explains itself well, and seafood explains itself worst — which is why it gets bought second, or saved for occasions. Beef and poultry spent half a century building an explanation layer: grades, marketing boards, origin labels, house brands. Seafood never built one. We treat that absence as a head start — skip the grades-and-slogans era entirely and go straight to per-batch provenance a shopper can check at the moment of choice.

The consumer surface this points at is specified into the platform’s core: a pack’s QR code resolves to a batch page that shows the batch’s trust tier and its full tier history — downgrades included — with every claim carrying its verification status, and anything unverifiable shown as absent rather than papered over. Demand created that way accrues to the people who can show their work, and their participation creates more demand. That loop, not advertising, is the growth engine.

The missing layer

Every node of the chain — from the broodstock breeder to the home cook — pays a tax for infrastructure that was never built. Counterparts cannot see each other’s track record. They cannot prove the product they are handling. They cannot guarantee the money will move when the fish does.

The industry has suffered a network-effects paradox. Each individual stakeholder benefits only partially from better data, but the whole industry benefits enormously when that data is shared. No single actor has ever had sufficient incentive to build the shared layer alone.

AquaPlutus resolves this by making each participant’s own activity self-interestedly useful — production management for farmers, credit ledgers for supply partners, engagement history for consultants — while contributing to the shared trust layer as a by-product.

The person is the atomic unit

Every person has one account, and that account belongs to them permanently. Businesses are separate entities that people create, join, and leave.

This fixes something the industry has lived with for decades. When a pond manager leaves one farm for another, their track record disappears. When a consultant works across fifteen farms, they have no unified professional identity. When a feeder who has worked ponds for twenty years looks for new work, he has no verifiable record of any of it.

Here, professional history, reputation, connections, and marketplace activity persist regardless of which businesses a person is associated with. Business data belongs to the business. Personal reputation belongs to the person. Deactivation severs access — it never deletes history.

Traceability is the floor, not the ceiling

GDST compliance is designed in from the start rather than bolted on, and it is invisible — woven into transactions people were going to record anyway. A farmer ordering juveniles produces a Stocking Receive event. A processor confirming a delivery produces a Processing Receive. Nobody fills in a traceability form.

Because every event carries its financial dimension as well as its physical one, the same record that satisfies an auditor can release a payment. That is the point. Transactions, reputations, work and money movement all resting on one checkable trail — traceability is how this starts, not what it is for.

Six capabilities, for everyone on the chain

Expressed differently depending on the role, but it is the combination that changes the industry.

  • Buy

Discover, compare, and purchase from counterparts whose record you can check — inputs, juveniles, feed, equipment, services, or finished product — with structured orders, payment terms, and delivery evidence.

  • Sell

List products and services, receive orders, generate professional invoices, track payment status, and build a verifiable transaction history.

  • Market

Publish a capability-based business profile with recorded activity volume, species breakdown, ratings, and financial track record — discoverable without marketing spend.

  • Discover

Find suppliers, buyers, workforce, consultants, and services through search and proactive matching — by capability, species, location, rating, and connection proximity.

  • Trust

Every interaction feeds counterparty reputation, payment reliability, compliance score, and verification tier — so that trust is calculated, not claimed.

  • Verify

One-tap counterparty verification doubles as payment trigger, delivery confirmation, and compliance evidence. The verification is the authorisation.

No one is excluded

The platform serves everyone from the broodstock geneticist to the labourer loading ice onto the truck.

  • Core business

Farmers, hatcheries, processors, exporters, importers, feed companies, supply partners, laboratories

Full business profile, marketplace, orders, production management, traceability, teams, analytics, financial tracking

  • Service providers

Consultants, harvest crews, sampling teams, equipment technicians, electricians, auditors

Professional profile, service discovery, engagement management, recorded history, client reviews

  • Workforce

Feeders, water quality technicians, operators, guards, processing workers, drivers

Team membership, task logging, portable work history, skill accumulation, job discovery

  • Peripheral suppliers

Diesel, ice, hardware, welding, packaging, transport repair, rope and net

    Simple profile, listings, order receiving

Users never see or choose a tier. They describe what they do, and the platform configures itself. Tiers are not fixed — people and businesses move between them as their operations evolve, and account, history, and reputation persist through every transition.

Three ways in, one source of truth

  • A human interface

For people who want to point and click. Mobile-first, built for the device and the connection people actually have.

  • A voice-first assistant

For the feeder at four in the morning and the compliance officer at their desk alike. Speak instead of typing — including over the messaging apps the industry already lives in.

  • An agent-callable surface

Every operation is exposed as a tool external agents can call, so a customer’s own automation works against the same platform their people do.

All three operate on the same data, the same business logic, the same verification gates, and the same audit trail. No surface gets a parallel back-end. No surface gets a privileged shortcut.

Assistance that knows what it may not do

  1. 01

    Capture and retrieval

Translates intent into platform actions. Logs what happened, retrieves what was asked.

“A1 tray one, empty, healthy” logs a feed event. “Who owes me money?” returns the list.

  2. 02

    Proactive drafting

Anticipates work and stages it for one-tap approval. Never sends or commits anything on its own.

Drafts a harvest crew booking, or pre-populates tomorrow morning’s ration.

  3. 03

    Verification gates

Identifies actions with real-world consequence and refuses to auto-execute them. Explicit human sign-off, every time.

Event verification, payment authorisation, order confirmation, data-sharing consent.

The discipline of these layers is what separates assistance that earns trust from automation that erodes it. A logging utterance never quietly triggers a financial commitment.

Unlock labour, never replace it

One first principle governs how AI participates in this platform: it unlocks labour, it never replaces it. The world is bracing for AI to take jobs; this industry’s problem is the opposite — world-class judgement drowning in an unpaid second job of remembering, transcribing and proving. So the assistant takes the clerk half. It hears a sentence and writes the record; it drafts and stages work for approval; anything with real-world consequence stays behind explicit human sign-off. The judgement half — the years in a feeder’s hands that no model has — becomes the whole job, and every signed record credits the person who did the work.

The people who grow seafood are real farmers, and today they get almost no appreciation — when the public meets them at all, it is usually through an exposé. The record is how that changes: work that can be shown, credited to people who can choose to be seen, met at the moment someone chooses their product.

Changing that dynamic is not a side effect of the platform; it is one of its products.

Shrimp first — but not shrimp only

Shrimp is the launch species. The architecture supports any cultured species without structural change: the individual-first account model, the capability-based business model, the event types, and the payment-ready schema are all species-independent. What varies by species is vocabulary and cycle, not architecture.

What we will not do

The moat is trust. These are the commitments that protect it.

  • A free core, permanently

The marketplace, the basic tools, and the workforce features are free forever. That is not an introductory offer — it is the growth engine, and it stays protected from monetisation pressure.

  • No advertising

No display advertising and no sponsored content in feeds. Promoted listings, where they exist, are labelled, capped, and never displace organic results.

  • Your data is not for sale

Aggregated, anonymised data may be licensed to lenders, insurers, regulators, and researchers under signed agreement. Raw user data is never sold.

  • No lock-in

Data export is free, always. Users who leave take their personal reputation and work history with them, by design.

  • Symmetric information

Price intelligence is visible to both sides of every transaction. Farmers see the same data buyers do.

  • No voice-only paywall

The voice assistant is gated by fair use, never by feature gating. A free-tier user gets the same assistant a paying one does, at a lower monthly cap — a smaller allowance, not a lesser tool.

  • No dark patterns

Premium features never interrupt a free workflow with a pop-up paywall. Upgrade prompts respond to demonstrated need, not manufactured scarcity.

What this changes

For the first time the whole chain becomes legible at once — from broodstock to plate, from a one-hectare backyard farm to a publicly listed integrated producer. Trust in seafood stops being a marketing claim and becomes a property of the infrastructure. That is how seafood earns the right to be chosen first.
